This weekend marked a series of inaugural events for Reuben as he embarked on the BMX National Series 2025 at the British Cycling headquarters. It was his first time riding his new bike, competing for his new Elite Team, DC Cycles, and riding the No. 1 plate as National Champion from last year. Additionally, he joined the Men’s division, moving up an age group.

While the competition featured world-class riders, Reuben embraced the challenge. In Round 1 on Saturday, he secured three solid qualifying motos, including a first-place finish, which propelled him to the semi-finals. A strong third-place finish in the semi-finals qualified him for the main final, where he faced the British Champion and the World No. 3 rider. Despite the formidable opposition, Reuben performed admirably, finishing in a respectable fifth place.

Round 2 of the series witnessed similar success for Reuben. He secured three more solid qualifying motos, including a first-place finish, a second-place finish, and a third-place finish, which qualified him for the semi-finals. This time, he improved upon his Round 1 performance, finishing in second place. The main final featured the same high-caliber riders, whilst riding in fourth place a rider behind him clipped Reuben’s back wheel, causing him to fall. Despite the setback, he rose unharmed and completed the final in eighth place.

Overall, Reuben’s performance marked a promising start to the season. His coach commended him for “ruffling some feathers and rattling cages this weekend, mate… proper job. You’ve earned the respect of established riders, and that’s a significant achievement.”
