Over Easter we made several grants under The Hawkes Awards with Freddie Ball receiving £300 towards coaching costs. Freddie plays for Tonbridge Cricket Club 1st X1 and is a keen bowler who strives to improve and reinforce his position within the team. It was pleasing to see two previous award  recipients, Amelia and Madison Woodgate receive £200 each towards their footballing costs. Both represent Charlton Athletic FC.

Elicia Lacey is a talented athlete, ranked 4th on the U13’s girl’s Hurdle rankings and is also a multi eventer. She is the 2019 Kent champion for hurdles, standing long jump and standing triple jump. She is second in the UK for Hurdles and 15th for shot put. Elicia was awarded £250.

The Edwin Boorman Memorial Fund  also made an award of £300 to Tunbridge Wells Borderers Cricket Club U15’s boys. 

Several General Grants have also been made with £750 being awarded to Minster(Sheppey )Cricket Club to assist with the costs of purchasing a new wicket roller. The Friends of Kingsmead Field received a £1,000 to help fund a green gym. Lamberhurst Playing Field Association also received £1,000 to assist with the purchase of land locally known as the Chequers Field and thereby securing the area for future leisure and sporting activity and benefitting the local community. Hawkinge Cricket Club were awarded £500 towards the cost of repairing their artificial practice pitch and netting.

St. Lawrence & Highland Cricket Club were awarded £750 to assist with the cost of resurfacing the square on their main ground.
