The AGM of the KCPFA took place at Tonbridge Castle on 25th April 2012 The Stanley Blow & Ole Kverndal Awards,( an annual award), were presented to 11 organisations with over £3,223 distributed. Among the award winners were Maidstone Squash Club who received £296 towards the cost of running Summer Squash Camps and the Kimura Shukokai Karate Club who received £300 towards the cost of competing at the KSI World Karate Championships in Atlantic City, USA in July later this year. Swale Borough Council received grants totaling £600 to assist with the Even Keel Sailing Event, Deal Town Rangers received £300 towards the costs of providing Saturday soccer schools and coaching, Wells,Canterbury and Bexley Park Squash Clubs received £296 each towards Summer Squash Camps as part of the new Kent Squash development Plan.The Kent County Bowling Association received £300 towards green fees and the costs of travel for young players, Saltwood Cricket Club in Hythe received £300 to purchase a new cricket training mat and Sheerness Town (St George’s) Bowling Club received £300 to assist with the provision of free bowls sessions to local primary and secondary pupils, at the club.

The Chairman,Robert Horner after welcoming everyone to the meeting,paid tribute to our late Patron Edwin Boorman asking members and guests observe a standing minute of silence as the meeting commenced.Further tributes were paid to our former Secretary and Treasurer Ted Wilson, affectionately known to many in the county as Mr KCPFA , who died last year and to former Maidstone North District Representative Clifford Playford who died earlier this year.

The Chairman asked that his thanks and those of the Association be recorded in the minutes Helen Skellorn, our previous Chairman for the past six years, for her dedication and service over that time and for her continued contribution as Vice President. He paid further tribute to Mr Richard Young, Chairman of the Golf Committee and to the Golf Committee,: Ken & Shirley Daniel, Ann McGuirk and Malcolm Hawkes.

Mr Richard Young,spoke about the 2011 Cecil Leitch 5 Club Competition success over the past 57 years or so and he too thanked his Committee and the Secretary for their efforts in organizing ,promoting and managing the event.He added that he and the Committee looked forward to 2012’s competition scheduled for June at the Mid Kent Golf Club. He also expressed his hopes for the new Junior Championship scheduled for October later this year, the first to be held at Faversham Golf Club.

The Chairman also spoke of the Annual Council Meeting held each year at the Maidstone Town Hall and the Queen Elizabeth 11 Challenge and the challenges faced when seeking to publicize the Charity and it’s work. paying tribute to the Secretary for his efforts in this area.He added that historically loans had provided a valuable activity and contribution to the Associations funds but that now other greater sources of funding, not least Lottery Funding, were available, loans had fallen away.He added that there are many cases when a top up loan from the Association can make a difference between a project proceeding or not.Naturally he spoke of the Olympics and hoped that the KCPFA would continue to play it’s part in providing grants to youngsters and was excited by the prospect of our new junior golf competition in the Autumn for young golfers at school.

Mr Cheng Wong, Treasurer then spoke of the 2011 Report & Accounts, highlighting the improved interest returned on both investments and loans over the period and the small reduction in costs for the year.He also wish to place on record the Charity’s gratitude to both the Cobtree Charity Trust and the Stonewall Park Charitable Trust for their continued support.The accounts were then approved by all present.

Elections to the Management Committee then followed with Mr Geoff Cooke being re-appointed as President for a two year term and Mr Richard Young being re appointed as Vice Chairman for a two year term.Golf Committee members Ken & Shirley Daniel,Ann McGuirk and Malcolm Hawkes were re appointed to serve for a one year period.

The Chairman then proposed that Larkings be appointed as Auditors for the present year once more.Mr Wong suggested that subscription fees remain unchanged.

The Stanley Blow & Ole Kverndal awards were then presented and the meeting closed.
